  • Ocean Wave > AFA testing ocean waves for energy – Researchers at the Air Force Academy are developing an idea that could use ocean waves to meet much of the nation’s energy needs. The devices look like the paddle wheels on river steamships of old, but with some new twists. They envision submersible barges lined with the wheels that would generate electricity and transmit it to shore over submerged cables. (Gazette.com; Colo. Springs; Dec. 31, 2007) (Thanks John Q. • Solar > Vehicles > Solar car could hit market soon – A compact solar-powered vehicle developed in Taiwan could be on the market within a year. The 250kg two-seater travels at up to 70kph, can be charged with just a few hours sunlight and can power the car for three hours. It is half the weight and costs half the price of solar-powered city roamers on some European markets. (Taipei Times; Dec. 30, 2007) (Thanks John Q. Public)
